William Josh Faircloth Sr.
William Josh Faircloth was born in Troy, Ala. on 10/27/33 to James Fletcher and Jimmie Mae
Faircloth. He graduated from Troy High School in 1951, and went to Troy University for 1 1/2 years before going into active duty in the Army in 1953. After being discharged in 1955, he enrolled at Auburn University in 1956. He received a degree in Civil Engineering in 1958. After graduating from Auburn he went to work for the Louisiana Highway Department until 1962, then moved to
Mississippi with Farrell Construction Company. After moving several times he then moved to Georgia with Bellamy Brothers Construction in 1968. In 1973 he started his own company, W. J. Faircloth Contractor. After several years he added, and Sons to the name. He retired in 2001.
While stationed at Fort Bragg he met a student nurse, Dorothy Moody (Dot) in June,
1954. They eloped on 12/24/54 and were blessed to be married for 57 ½ years.
There are now 17 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
William Josh Faircloth, Jr. (Jay) was born on 8/9/57, Karen Elaine on 7/25/60, James Robert Lance on 2/23/62, Cindy Gayle on 7/24/63 and Jill Daphine on 10/23/70. Jay was married to Sheila Marie, Karen is married to Rick Boullain, Lance to Terrie, Cindy to Ronnie Roach, Jill to John Martin.
Josh was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in or about 2008. He passed away on 6/9/12 from complications to total hip replacement. He was preceded in death by son, William Josh (Jay) Faircloth. Jr., parents: James and Jimmie Mae Faircloth, two brothers: James Fletcher, Jr. and Robert Lewis Faircloth.
Josh was a charter member and ordained Deacon of the First Baptist Church of Ellenwood. He was known to be an honorable man. Honest, trustworthy, faithful to family and friends and a true born again Christian.
Josh endured the challenge of Parkinson’s disease with courage, grace and dignity as the type of man he was. His family is very proud to have been truly blessed with him as husband, father and grandfather.
